I just want to make a quick post about resolving this.
It might seem crazy scary to have to strip down the steering column to get to the four torx bolts that come lose and cause the wobbly steering wheel but let me tell you it is not that bad. Also it is not near as bad as the accident you will have if you don't fix this.
Once you get down to the 4 bolts it is simply a matter of tightening them down and maybe adding some lock tight.
This is the easiest to find link for this, but there is another I cannot find that I also used that has a column stripped down that has orange edges when you see the view that has cutouts to see inside the column. It is very good in naming the individual parts.
Be aware of these two things:
1- There is a mild flat spring underneath the ignition rod (for lack of a better term). There is another name because it really isn't a rod. The spring is called the "reset spring" and you will not notice it if you don't know it is there. It will fall and you will miss it. The ignition rod is a silver colored flat elongated piece of metal with a loop on one end and gap inside the full length and teeth on the edge of one side on the other end. There is a small picture of it on the page in the link above.
Below is an image of one in a kit you can buy: (That is not the spring I refer to below)
2- Really watch the small BB size bearings when you get down to them. They will fall out. It is easy to heavily grease up the holder ring and put them back into their slots. The grease will hold them in. When placing the lowest bearing ring make sure you seat it inside the column sleeve well or you will keep bumping it on the steering rod and pushing the bearings out.
Everything only goes one way so if you go slow take photos with your cell phone and be mindful of how things go it is not that bad. It beats $65 an hour for a mechanic to do it.
