Hello everyone my name is Steven, I am 23 years old and I recently moved to Goldsboro. I also am new to Fieros. I did not know these cars existed until Nov. 2013, but once discovered I started doing research and fell in love with the design. After 2 months of research I bought an 86 2M4 5 speed for 700$ that was parked for 6 months due to the clutch needing to be bled, was wrecked on the passenger door and just needs some tlc. I bled the clutch and put a battery in it and fired it right up. I managed to drive it around for a month, but noticed consistent problems with it so I decided to park for my next plan of attack. I currently have the wrecked passenger door torn apart and am working on trying to fix the window tracks and waiting for warm weather so I can refiberglass the door. Wish I could now but being in a new house I don't have a heater to keep my garage warm.
Background for me I grew up with an auto/body shop in my back yard at 12-14 I helped my dad restore a 57 chevy truck from scratch. I have done 3 carb chevy 350 swaps 1 into an 82 chevy c10 and 2 into my brothers 80 Camaro, he has a knack for treating his car like crud. With that being said I don't have experience in electrical so I wanted to get a grand national engine to swap into this fiero, but they are to rare and to expensive. I thought about putting the 5.7L vortec in it since the engine only has 40k miles and the body of my truck is to trashed for me to want to restore (not my favorite chevy truck body style.) but due to only generic research, lack of specifics on a vortec swap and having no engine compartment space I deterred away from that idea. I am looking to do a 3800 series swap into the car, but edgy because I need more experience with electrical and info on doing a poor man's swap into it. As stated earlier I've never really done a job that required fabrication or cross mating parts. I'm up for the challenge and man hours put into this I Just need some guidance and am willing to help others with labor that need it that aren't over an hours away drive.
