I found it for you...it is sitting next to the front fender in that pic. That'll buff right out.

Seriously though...any thoughts as to what caused it? Looks like it broke the studs...but why?

I believe the wheel bearing went bad. Its been making some noise for a couple of weeks. I'm glad it happened when I was in a parking lot going 5mph instead of on the interstate. Since I bought a Mustang GT Convertible the other day and the Grand Prix has some other problems, I'm taking it off the road, saving it for my engine swap into my Fiero.

Sucks that this happened! I had a similar incident in my 95 grand prix. I had just replaced the passenger fender and a friend wanted to help me and since he was stronger I figured I'd let him put the wheel back on and tighten the lugs. On the way back home the next day I saw my tire fly past me while I was going 20 luckily I slid into the grass since it was a T intersection I was making a left onto. The new fender I hadn't even gotten to paint yet was ruined. After that I fixed it sold the car and found a great deal on a 79 C10. So I took it as a sign to make something better.
