Naked Syclone

Postby Drew-py » Sat Feb 22, 2014 1:24 am

As in Chugs thread Proto Ty you have read about that I have a Syclone that with out Chugs help I could not have gotten. This pic was taken after the engine gave out but is otherwise as I got her. I say she is naked because her cladding (ground effects) have been removed by a previous owner

I got her back in 09 in a run down but functioning state until the wrongfully installed 9.5 compression engine had been replaced under warranty and had a "small" knock issue that blow out the ring grooves. Forced to park it and having other projects, I have been getting things as I can and finally I am now putting her back together. I knew what I was looking at and had been seeking one out for many years, thanks to Chug (SYTY member) catching wind of this one and telling me about it I finally gained ownership. The truck is rough but all in all its in decent shape. Interior is very very good

Nice! You got some great goodies there to throw in!

Are you going to have the block magnafluxed to make sure it's okay?

actually the work is 97% done and I have driven it on the street, just need to dial in the Blow Off Valve, Waste Gate, set time and fuel curves, just finally got around to doing the build thread, sorry everybody. Yes i had the block magnafluxed, decked, indexed, align honed. Rotate assy was balanced. I swapped the stock LB4 heads for the early vortec L35, approx HP increase is about 20 N/A, then punched them out to 2.02 1.60 and port matched to gasket with a mild polishing. Port matching was done to Lower Intake Manifold as well to reduce transition turbulence.

I have good pics of the block and top of the pistons installed but some how missed the assembled bottom end with the rods, which are eagle H-beam with floating spiral lock wrist pins. I get ahead of myself and forget to stop and take pictures

I think now would be a great time to switch this over to the "Project Cars" section of the main site...ultimately it will end up there anyway when we integrate the message boards into it, and I would love to see how things go with adding a true build thread into it. It will help set some precedence on how I should complete that part of the site.

ok lets switch it, would it be easier for me to repeat these posts on the Project Cars page and lets not forget about switching Chugs Proto TY over too. Then we can delete the posts about the "lets switch" comments to stay on subject

I started/opened the build page but didn't copy anything over until I hear which way is going to be easiest with less problems to complete
